Some one says that good parent plants will not bring out good offsprings. But what I will persist in is that good genes will mostly bring comparatively good quality offsprings with good appearances, and the cross between good parent plants will improve average quality of the offsprings. The cross between common parent plants will never bring good offsprings. This result has been approved by uncountable cross in our country.I think it will be the same in your country, this is the course why we usually try our best to make crosses between clivia show winners.
Certainly, there will be exceptions(the inferior) from good parents , but I think the exceptions can not replace the whole. At the same time, those offsprings which have very good appearance , i.e. have the same characteristics just like their mother or father plant's or have even much better characteristics are very rare in a certain. Therefore, very eximious chinese clivia will be rare and very expensive, for example, in chinese market, per pollen of such plants will reach a very high price of 100$ or more.Such plant will be at a high price of 1500$~10000$ or even more.
In China, there are many clivia breeders who cultivate "Chuan"(hybrids between chinese types and japanese darumas), include many most famous known cultivators. These "chuan" are merely common plants and not welcomed by chinese clivia-enthusists because of its ordinary quality, but they will be welcomed by common people just because of its cheap and receptible price.
